My beach friend- Mon copain de plage

My friend at the beach: a monitor lizard, him and some of his extended family are used to come for some rest and fishing at this special beach. It is difficult for everybody to go to the beach so it is a quiet place, it's why this shy animal like it.

It's difficult to take the picture, he runs to hide in the sea at the slightest movement, better not move and let him forget me. This one is about 3 meters long.

Creep animals. But they are neat to look at as long as they dont come near you I suppose. Yikes.. I dont like reptiles really.

Good job! I would love to see such a creature - all I've seen are tiny salamanders and the little lizards everywhere in the tropics.

Good photoshot. They have many of these. When I went to Jonker Street, Malacca, I saw so many of them in the canal. But they are much smaller. Great to see you having fun on the beach.

They are really very shy it's difficult to take a photo they escape to the sea as soon as they feel a presence.

I had a friend who kept one in his apartment. They are pretty docile except that they can cause painful cuts and bruises when they decide to whip their tail.

Great picture!

oh my goodness how exciting! I would have been fearful and pumped with excitement all at the same time. You were so patient to sit there and wait for a good picture without scaring him.
