Last week, we parked in front of this beautiful entrance to go to Jean-Luc's iris farm .
Look at that immensely well kept rows of vineyard, in front of Jean-Luc house, he lives in the middle of famous Cognac vineyard.

A swarm just being built, it was not there in the morning.

Jean-Luc takes a picture of the swarm.
Jean-Luc and my gang, mum, auntie Madeleine and friend Simone. Mum is on the chair on the right.
We came to buy iris rhizome from the farm.
In my garden, Jean-Luc gave me two different rhizome, here, next to the one I already have.
Here it is, planted. Now wait for the beautiful iris I will have next year in May, thank you Jean-Luc.

What colour are your new Iris? I used to have miniature purple ones but I think they have died out now and only one or two rhizomes of the large purple ones.

I remember when I was very young, finding wild iris along the edge of the lake where our cottage was. I was shocked to think that something so beautiful could be a wild flower.

Bonjour Kitem !

That vineyard looks awesome.

Your plant looked like ginger root at first glance.

I would love to have my own winery one day.

How nice to live in a vineyard surrounded by fragrant irises! Must be therapeutic I suppose :-)

The public garden is made so cheery with the kids' theme, so fun!

What a fun treat to go to an Iris Farm. I have never done anything like that before. Were you nervous around the hive being made or where they so busy being builders that they paid no attention to company?

I wonder what they do to keep the vineyards so extremely tidy and clean! I was grown up in a region with vineyards and know how difficult it is to keep them in this way without using chemical methods. Probably it was freshly weeded just for your visit ;-) !! I'm curious to see the blooming iris next Spring!
Bon dimanche et salutations,
Barbara

For M.Kate : iris like sun and don't like humidity, you can try to put some in your garden

For Barbara : the wine yard is like this every 365 days of the year, the wine grower is one of my friends, and he is very often in his wine yard,he works with great tidiness, that's why tey are so beautifull , it's the best in all the area of Cognac . For the irises, you can see them on my blog
