Jacques showing off his new spectacles. I remember long time ago, when we were living in India, there was post and letters only, and sometimes the letters disapeared from the face of the earth, there was no telephone, no TV, seldom electricity, yes, it was long time ago, before dinosaurs time, and of course, no internet the fairy.
But now, every saturday, noon sharp, I connect, and wait patiently... patiently, after one minute, I call son's handphone, he doesn't answer, I wait patiently, after one more minute I call daughter in law handphone, she is having her shower.
I wait patiently, after .... sometimes, the internet phone rings, the communication is there, I see them!! one second, the comunication is not working well, we both start our computer again, one time, two times, three times, then IT WORKS! I don't know why.
We talk for ages, the children are acting and playing in front of the camera, ten times they say bybye, and come back, even with no words it's great, we have invented, I should say created games and plays and new ways of interacting, even far away life is beautiful.
And there is more: both my children live far from me, but we talk on the phone everyday, we SMS, we MSN, for hours. Sometimes, I spend one hour talking with each child, I takes a lot of time, Hey, I'm not complaining, I am more or less bragging about the quality time I spend with my boy and my girl, I don't see them, I don't touch them, I don't cook for them, but we know everything about each other, we never stop talking.
I am very happy about that.

Oh how that makes me smile to imagine the smile on your face from ear to ear and shinning from your heart. It is such a blessing to live in this age when there are so many technical advances.
I think about 150 years ago when things were by train and horse and buggy. Children would move away to start their families on farm land way out of arms reach and letters would go across the prairie for months.
How wonderful that you have created new games and giggles with your young cherubs.
Oh...Kitem...this is wonderful :D
I've yet to use the webcam..but this is just beautiful communication between you and the children and grandchildren. I now learn this from you, never stop talking to the people I love..it is all SO IMPORTANT. i know people who live together and never talk or communicate. While the distance is far apart, but you have everyone in the heart..and they you, and that's important. Wonderful post! and I am so lucky to have you as a friend too..I look forward to the day you are back here. much love and hugs forever :D
...remember our date at Ayutthaya!!
OUIvive le progrès, il permet de relativiser les distances, et de profiter de tout le monde quand même!
It's a great joy when technology allows us to stay connected with those we love in several ways. The more options the merrier :-)
Wow I am so glad for you. Yes, internet is so powerful and useful to us. I did what you did when my siblings were overseas. It was so fun to watch and chat with them as if they are just next door to you. Even in Singapore, I chat with my siblings via the instant messaging or email...lol. My home phone seldom rings since my mother in law passed away. Everyone has a handphone and SMS is also another communication.
That is so fantastic! I LOVE the internet. (and hate it at the same time....)
Hello Kitem
Good to hear from you on my blog!
I know how you feel. My son and daughter-in-law live across the US from me in the state of Colorado. We have to keep in touch by phone and e-mail. They are having our first grandchild in December and I plan on getting a web cam so we will be able to see the baby and watch him grow. We are lucky we live in the modern world where even though we are far apart, we can be close!
I enjoyed your vineyard photos and the tiramasu -- si bon!
That is lovely Kitem.. At least you get to see them. We had a web cam too for my mom for the longest time and then we moved into the house and I lost the web cam and just found it recently. I dont have MSN but we do have Yahoo Messenger..
Hi Kitem i get to see my grandsons every saturday all day we have a great time. they only live about 16 kms away. do you use skype to see and talk to your family in London it's free.some weeks ago we were talking about all the rain, well this year the crop of apples were outstanding the best crop i have had it must be all the rain we had in U.K. what was it like with you. knowing you like gardening. pray you get over to see your family. bye for now. God bless.
Kitem, it's wonderful that the magic of techno-cyber communication allows you to see and speak with your family members who reside on the other-side of the planet. The planet becomes smaller each minute!
