L'accident, a Thames adventure

We were on the barge path when the guy on the boat cried for help.

We saw the smoke, as soon he asked for help there were five or six strong guys who rushed to the place. The guy on the boat send ropes so that the guys on the bank could secure the boat, he was not alone as I could here another guy inside trying to put off the fire with an extinguisher.

It wasn't working fine, Helene wanted to get away of the place because she couldn't stand the smoke, but we were just walking away when we heard the fire engine horning on the other bank.

In less than five minutes the firemen were there, not one engine, but two, three, six alltogether, plus a police car and an ambulance.

It was amazing how fast they arrived. I walked back and saw that the fire had been growing strong.

They well needed two lorries to put the fire off, then I left and join Helene back, she was playing with goose and swanns by the river a bit further up.

I guess the two guys on the boat were shocked and most probably sick with the smoke, hence the ambulance.

Il fait beau, beautiful Autum

If you listen to the Britons from Great Britain and to the Bretons of Britanny in France, it rains a lot in their country.
I don't think so.
Today was so warm that we had lunch by the river, outside, look at Alex, he is in his tee shirt.

A the picturesque village of Lacok, the house lady made beautiful bouquets of Automnal flowers in front of her house, and let a word:

2 pounds fifty the bouquet, slip the money in the letter box.

Les grands et les petits bretons

I realise that I pre-wrote my text in French, so sorry about that, dear English reading readers, I don't know if I will be unlazy enough to write all again in a language more understandable for you.
It is all about the beauties of England, you can find Britons sprayed all over the world, they leave their country to stay in France, in Spain or Greece.
Les grands Bretons et nos petits Bretons a nous de Bretagne ont ceci de commun qu'ils aiment a se plaindre de la pluie, des nuages, et du mauvais temps qu'il fait au dessus de leur pays, ils ont tendance a diminuer les merites de leur region ou de leur pays, a beaucoup le critiquer et demontrer a force de grands gestes et longues declarations que le "Sud" est plus beau, plus chaud, plus aimable.

Bref, on doit comprendre qu'il est plus avise de passer nos vacances, ou nos envies de decouverte ailleurs que chez eux.

But their country is one of the most beautiful I have ever visited, they are a lovely people, always funny, welcoming, fairplay, so civilised.
Ils arrivent meme a nous le faire serieusement croire.

Ce que je crois moi, c'est qu'ils sont capables d'inventer n'importe quoi pour ne pas partager leurs tresors.
Je laisse a Tiffen le soin de nous montrer ici et la les tresors de sa Bretagne, et de reparer le mauvais sort fait a sa belle region.

Tresors de beautes en tout genre, je decouvre maintenant a chaque sejour en Grande Bretagne, des paysages fabuleux, de merveilleuses cathedrales, des chateaux petits et grands, les portes grandes ouvertes au public, des ruines romaines magnifiquement preservees, une culture Celte passionnante.

Et les englishes sont charmants, agreables, ils ne se moquent pas de notre ugly accent francais et ne perdent pas une occasion de nous dire deux mots de bienvenue en francais.

Not civilised at all at the wheel of their vehicule I must say, but for the rest, I love them to bits.

Par contre, ils conduisent comme des fous, ne respectent pas les limitations et klaxonnent inconsideremment sans raison aucune.

Une semaine anglaise

Le chateau de Hampton Court. Hampton court, royal place of King Henry the eighth, the one who killed his wifes when he wanted to change. The castle is on the Thames River, we go there by boat. A red splash of autumn. Derriere les saules pleureurs, une tache rouge d'automne.
On prend le bateau presue devant l'appartement d'Helene et Alex pour aller a Hampton, les bords de la Tamise sont tres beaux.Views on the river are beautiful, here are some shot of the river by itself, I will later post some of the magnificent villas built on its banks.
Cet oiseau dont je ne connais pas le nom s'est mis a chanter pour attirer mon attention et a pris la pose pour la photo. This bird called me and then wait for the photo to be taken.

Je suis absente quelques jours, nous partons faire un petit tour dans l'ouest de l'Angleterre. Bonne semaine a tous.

Small pink stockings, a gift from my mum. She bought today her plane ticket to visit her future great grand daughter in January, she will travel alone, she is 80 years old.

Les petits collants, la robe gris et rose sont des cadeaux de ma maman, elle a acheté aujourd'hui son billet d'avion pour rendre visite à son arrière petite fille en janvier, elle est déjà impatiente.

As you know my grand children live far away, in a country I like very much, but still very far from my little town in France, I don't see them as much as I would like.

I remember long time ago, when we were living in India, there was post and letters only, and sometimes the letters disapeared from the face of the earth, there was no telephone, no TV, seldom electricity, yes, it was long time ago, before dinosaurs time, and of course, no internet the fairy.
But now, every saturday, noon sharp, I connect, and wait patiently... patiently, after one minute, I call son's handphone, he doesn't answer, I wait patiently, after one more minute I call daughter in law handphone, she is having her shower.
I wait patiently, after .... sometimes, the internet phone rings, the communication is there, I see them!! one second, the comunication is not working well, we both start our computer again, one time, two times, three times, then IT WORKS! I don't know why.
We talk for ages, the children are acting and playing in front of the camera, ten times they say bybye, and come back, even with no words it's great, we have invented, I should say created games and plays and new ways of interacting, even far away life is beautiful.

And there is more: both my children live far from me, but we talk on the phone everyday, we SMS, we MSN, for hours. Sometimes, I spend one hour talking with each child, I takes a lot of time, Hey, I'm not complaining, I am more or less bragging about the quality time I spend with my boy and my girl, I don't see them, I don't touch them, I don't cook for them, but we know everything about each other, we never stop talking.

I am very happy about that.
Ben cette fois çi tant pis pour les français, chuis flemarde, je ne traduis pas, c'est juste pour dire que même si mes enfants habitent loin loin de moi, nous parlons au téléphone tous les jours, très longtemps, quelquefois à la fin de la journée, je m'aperçois que je les ai eu au téléphone une heure chacun, sans parler des SMS et des longs discours écrits sur MSN.

Et puis le samedi à midi pile, on se connecte, on prend nôtre temps, on rigole, on ne dit rien, on parle, les enfants font les clowns devant la caméra, on invente, ou plutôt devrais-je dire, on crée un nouveau mode de communication ensemble, ça peut paraître bizarre, mais c'est chouette.

La ferme aux iris, the Iris farm

La semaine dernière, sous un soleil magnifique et très chaud, nous avons garé la voiture devant la vigne, au coeur des vignoble de Cognac, pour aller à la ferme aux Iris de Jean-Luc, en passant par ce magnifique portail.

Last week, we parked in front of this beautiful entrance to go to Jean-Luc's iris farm .
Look at that immensely well kept rows of vineyard, in front of Jean-Luc house, he lives in the middle of famous Cognac vineyard.
Je n'ai jamais vu une vigne aussi bien tenue, pas un brin d'herbe, pas une feuille ne dépasse, les rangs sont tirés au cordeau, c'est magnifique, un rosier se trouve à chaque bout de rang, si le rosier tombe malade, la vigne suivra deux semaines plus tard, il indique au cultivateur l'état de santé de sa vigne.
Un essaim d'abeille en cours de formation, il n'était pas là le matin, sous la pergola de Jean-Luc.

A swarm just being built, it was not there in the morning.

Nous voilà toutes les quatres avec le maître de maison. Jean-Luc and my gang, mum, auntie Madeleine and friend Simone. Mum is on the chair on the right.
Ah oui, nous sommes venues pour acheter des rhizomes d'iris. We came to buy iris rhizome from the farm.
In my garden, Jean-Luc gave me two different rhizome, here, next to the one I already have. C'est là que je vais planter les deux rhizomes que Jean-Luc m'a gentiment offerts.
Et voilà, c'est planté. Here it is, planted. Now wait for the beautiful iris I will have next year in May, thank you Jean-Luc.
Jean-Luc, merci pour ton cadeau et de ton accueil, nous avons passé une journée magnifique.

Le square,

In the small public garden nearby my place, the gardeners were at work. The theme was children life.
Au square à côté de chez moi, le thème de l'été était l'enfance, ici, les jardiniers ont dessinés sur le sol la forme des enfants.
One week after they had planted different kind of plants and flowers in the form of the shape they had drawn earlier.
Après 3 mois, voici les enfants-fleurs-plantes, on voit que les feuilles des platanes qui bordent l'avenue commencent à tomber.

En mai, le jardinier plante les petits choux suivant la forme dessinée de l'arbre.

The gardener is planting following the pattern. Before.
Et après, and after.

Les fleurs dessinent une fleur, au début de la plantation.
Flowers for a flower, spring season.
The same at the end of summer, les mêmes à la fin de l'été.
Ah, là, c'est ma copine qui revient du pain, Mimi comes back home with her baguette.
