We are having a nice dinner party with friends in our Batu Ferringhi favorite restaurant, Guan Guan.
The meal is called a Steam Boat, a herbal soup is boiling in the big pot in the center of the table, all around are dishes with different sorts of meat, fish, prawns, vegies and noodle.
You first cook the meat and sea food, then the vegetables, you add the noodle at the end, and you may also add an egg to thicker the soup which is truly delicious after having boiled all these ingredients.
All the guests have a small personal strainer to fish its own food. It is good and a light meal, but this way we always eat too much.
When Francois, on my left, fishes a .... lizard. It most probably fell from the ceiling above the steaming pot, I had, a few minutes before being splashed in the neck, I thought it was Marie, oposite me who had done wrong with her fisnet strainer.
I couldn't eat anymore. And when Guan Guan, the chef, came to ask us how things were going, I showed him the lizard.
We were at the end of the meal when we discovered the samll animal, then, three minutes later, we had a new fresh Steam Boat, with all the ingredients on the table.
Ici, en plus des bean sprout, elle cuit des legumes verts en fleur, des Choy Sum.
She cooks first some green flowered vegies, called Choy Sum.Elle les met en premier, ils sont un peu plus long a cuire.
Puis elle ajoute les pousses de soja, she throws the bean sprouts in one shot.
Et voila, c'est pret en moins de cinq minutes, c'est leger, et bon pour la sante.
Voila, finished in less than 5 minutes, good, and healthy.
Happy Birthday to my Darling Daughter.
I brought my laundry down to KL to wash in Anna's washing machine. I put the laundry in and clac did the handdle, it was rosak, (rosak is the Malay word for broken).
The machine can't work anymore without the right handdle, the machine is old, most probably, it can't be repaired, the only solution left is to....buy a new one, and this has to happen to me, poor me, I am very upset.
I want to forget all about it, I go to shower the boys, put them in their pyjamas and come back in the kitchen. Here was the guy repairing the washing machine door.
Between the time I broke the machine and the time it was repaired there was less than one hour.
This is Malaysia.
Mr Garden and son called the repair shop while I was in the bathroom.
C'est Mr Garden et son fils qui ont appele le reparateur quand j'etais dans la salle de bain.
