These are encenses coils hanging from the ceiling are beautiful, I love to take photos of them.
You have to be careful when you are going to the altar as ashes fall onto your head.
La porte du temple, the temple main entrance door.

A mother and her son are going to pay their respect to Buddha.
And now Mr Garden is doing the same.

From virtual to real life - Du virtuel à la vraie vie

I was so lucky yesterday to get the opportunity to meet a famous fellow blogger:
M. Kate, she has a lot of blogfriends, she talks about her beloved country, Malaysia, and, as she says, she writes from the heart, it is her little secret of good blogging. I guess it is also the way she lives life, with her family and a few rabbits.
She says La vie est belle, and you are so true, M Kate, la vie est belle indeed, life is beautiful.
Thank you very much for being there.

Le marche de jade a Hong Kong

First I want to say that the story of the Hakka women was just for fun. Yes she behaved like this, but she had her reasons, I thought it was a funny story to make you smile, I didn't mean to be rude to her, things like this happen all the time when we travel thge world, I will fondly remember her.
Please Hakka people, don't feel offended.
Because, true enough Hingkongites are really nice people, helpfull and smiling, (more than in Thailand which is called the land of smiles).

Hong Kong people

Before going to HK people around me told me that the Hong Kong people were rude, notwelcoming people, that they don't like foreigners, especially us, the long nose and red face.
I also heard that when you enter a shop just to look at the stuff, they will send you out telling you, "if you can't afford to buy, then don't come in".
That is to say I was prevented against Hongkongites, but I just didn't care because I was there to see my friends and the city, If they don't like me, never mind.
In the photo above, I don't know what she is fishing out of this big jar.
Anyway, I you can know expect, they happened to be just the opposite, they are deliciously nice and welcoming people.

Always ready to help you in the street, in the subway, anywhere you seem lost, or looking for something, in every shop I went, they were always helpfull, smiling, ready to give you a hand.
In the New Territories, these two Hakka women live in a strange village, first built in the 12th century, square, with very narrow alleys, small but confortable house.
Of course, tourist are coming to visit the village, and I guess they don't have much to live on, so they try to make a living out of the photographers.

This sweet lady asked me to take a picture of her, I agreed happily, then she asked for money, I gave her some coins. Gosh, it was not enough, my friend Martine didn't have the 10 HK$ she was asking, me neither, Mr Garden was away in a temple, she got angry, cursed me, shout at me, followed me in the village, making people to go out of their house, and she was telling them, in her Hakka language that I was the most ugly-stingy red long nose she has ever seen in her life. In her case Hakka language was easy to understand!

In the beach at Stanley market, in the South of HK Island, some fishermen houses.

But Stanley market is also where you need money to buy, buy till you drop.

I love Hong Kong

On Hong Kong Island, two silver buildings hide a gold one, all is about money money. This is the Hong Kong I saw, cloudy and grey, not at all the one from the photo above with clear skies.

Even the rich people who paid for an expensive cruise had the same grey sky, a nice weather is not included in the package.

From the Star ferry across the bay, from Kowloon to HK Island.

And here the view from Victoria Peak, the famous view everybody knows, a bit hidden in the clouds. Here are not only office buildings, but also pricate appartment, one can say that Hongkongites are stratas living, ones above the others, all over the Island, in the new territories, south North, at the seaside, in the mainland, everywhere, you can see thousands of buildings with people living on the top of each other.
Nooo, it's not another 9/11, just a cloud skyscapping the sky scrapper.

In the South, at the seaside, where Jean-Christophe's catamaran is anchored, all the week end he has done regatta around some lovely island- lovely, I can only guess because we went to join him for dinner on saturday night and we couldn't see much from the ferry to Cheung Chau.
Himself could see nothing from here to the regatta spot.

I'm going there

I'm going there, and will be busy not blogging.
Do you know where it is and from where the photo has been taken?

I know that I will never be there for my grand sons birthday, it is in August, and August will always see me in the South if France, never in Malaysia.
So we decide for a fictual date and we set an half birthday party, with presents, cake, canddles and happy birhday to you.
This year present was The Disney on Ice show.

This morning, the lights went off, Mickey and Minnie slided enthusiasticaly on the ice and all of a sudden .... I was 10 years old.

Here is Simba the lion King and girl friend.
We enjoyed ourselfs a lot, with the 101 Dalmatiens, really 101 on the ice, part of them fake ones, Peter Pan, Wendy and family flying under the roof of the theater, Captain Crochet with his crocodile and the crowd singing tic toc. We met Lilo and Stich, we bought 2 Stich toys, and a big bucket of Pop Corn. About that, one should tell Mr Disney Company that the by-product price are incredibly expensive, maybe not in the States, but here in Asia, 25 ringgit for a bucket of pop corn when a plate of delicious Char Koey Teo noodles is about 5 ringgit, I truly think not everybody can afford it.
We started our day early, have a nice local breakfast, nasi lemak, roti canai and dahls, we didn't get lost going far away to Bukit Jalil (we had the driver), and were pretty much on time waiting patiently and exitedly for the show to start.

Chez le coiffeur Indien - At the Indian hairdresser

It's always on Sundays morning between father and sons.
Jacques gets ready.
Only toward the end, the hairdresser uses his cissors, the rest of the head has been shaved with the electric razor.
You will notice vivid colors, images of a few Indian Gods, all of this very much to the taste of the Indian community, the Gods will bring protection to this working place.

Let's take his place, you are 4 years old, you are very inconfortable on a high chair, and this big guy with a big moustache is leaning toward you, take your small little head in his big hands and start cutting your hair with an electric noisy machine. For me, I tell say I start screaming with terror, you will hear me in America, for sure.
The little one didn't say a word, he was very quiet, even when Mr Moustache cut the last hair with huge cissors to scare everyone of us.

Details du Khoo Kongsi

Quelques photos supplementaires du magnifique Khoo Kongsi. Some more photographies of the magnificent Khoo Kongsi in Penang.

The lion is the guardian of the Khoo Temple, you will find in his mouth a rolling stone carved inside, you gently put your hand to roll it so that it will bring luck and prosperity for you and your family.

The forefathers of the Khoo family who emigrated from South China built it as a clanhouse for members of the Khoo family in 1851. It was burnt down in 1894, allegedly struck by lightning, and the Chinese believed that it was due to its resemblance to the Emperor's palace, which provoked the gods. A scaled-down version was later built in 1902 and completed in 1906. (source Wikipedia)

Collection of the Khoo ancestral tablets, they are still venered and respected. this is part of the Taoist religion who have the greatest respect for their ancestor, thanks to them if we are living now, in good health and wealth.

In front of Gods Ong Soon and Tua Sai, two beautiful celadon encense bowls.

I don't know the name of this God, another beautiful bronze carved encense bowl.
